Insuring My Toothache

Insuring My ToothacheI had a toothache. And that was horrible of course, because it hurt like hell and my insurance would not cover my visit to a dentist.

I was at a loss for what to do. I’m not very knowledgeable about such topics as insurance, but my insurance broker made it clear to me that there are two choices that would save me.

My health was already insured by Medicare. But I had no idea that there were Medicare supplement rates for its supplement plan, Medigap. As far as I understood, the Medigap plans could cover the expenses, which Medicare could not compensate, for example dentist services. “That’s what I need,” I thought, and I immediately remembered about my toothache again (I was so captured by what and how he was saying that I had totally forgotten about it. I should have kept that cute guy as a personal dentist).

But there was another option, I could chose a separate insurance for my teeth — Delta Dental individual insurance. Although this version seemed to be attractive, I decided (after my broker convinced me, because I was more keen on choosing individual insurance) that it would be more profitable to stay on the Medigap plan with less premiums and more advantages, especially in Florida, where I am from (Florida Medigap Insurance).

This experience was very painful for my teeth but useful for my head. Now I’m relieved that whenever I get toothaches, this insurance will lead me out of trouble.
